The limit is a ceiling
A coverage limit is the maximum an insurer will pay for a particular covered claim or type of loss, subject to the policy terms. It is not a guarantee that every loss up to that amount will be reimbursed.
Look for smaller sublimits
Some policies set separate limits for categories such as jewelry, electronics, cash, water damage, or temporary living expenses. These details can matter more than the headline limit when you inventory what you own.
Update as life changes
A move, renovation, new equipment, or change in household can make an old limit less useful. Ask how valuation works and keep receipts or photos where they can help document a claim.
