Build one recurring-cost list
Record the amount, due date, payment method, renewal date, and whether the cost is essential. Include annual and quarterly charges, not just the bills that arrive every month.

Look for friction
Autopay is useful for stable bills, but it can hide price increases and renewals. Turn on alerts, keep a calendar, and review any service that makes cancellation difficult.
Decide what belongs in the plan
A recurring expense can be worthwhile even when it is not essential. The point is to make the choice visible so the household can keep, change, or end it deliberately.
